Global Leadership Development: What Global Organizations Can Do to Reduce Leadership Risk, Increase Speed to Competence, and Build Global Leadership Muscle

I am pleased to announce that the Human Resources Planning Society has just published my most recent article in the current issue of People & Strategy 36.1 – April 2013. The article is based on research I conducted into how global leaders develop, in which I explored three questions:

  1. What experiences do global leaders describe as important in their development?
  2. What do global leaders report that they developed or learned in order to become a global leader?
  3. How did global leaders learn what they learned that led to their development as global leaders?

The article focuses primarily on the implications of this research for global leadership development practice, although the implications apply to development of leaders in a wide range of organizations. It is available for download here: Global Leadership Development
